Purioso
Furioso II, sire of the `keur` stallion Purioso, produced 200 state premium mares and no less than 68 approved sons, many of which are rendering their services on other continents. We can therefore justifiably claim that Furioso II has influenced breeding on a worldwide scale. In the Netherlands his sons Purioso, Voltaire , Thorwaid, Faust Z and Forum have been approved. From the sport we know, for example, Osta Carpets Cachet {Jean Ciaude Vangeenberghe}, Filius (Franke Sloothaak} and the stallion Heisman (Michael Matz}. Full brother to Furioso II is the French stallion Mexico, whose son Le Mexico has become famous in the Netherlands as a showjumper producer. The Oldenburger dam of Purioso is Alinda, daughter of the famous Holsteiner Marteli, who descends from the sport horse supplier Trebonius xx

At his performance test, Purioso easily met the high expectations. For free jumping he received an 8, but under saddle he was even more impressive, which earned him a 9.

Purioso progeny are in one word phenomenal! Not for nothing does one consider Purioso the absolute progenitor of the nineties. He sired many excellent sport horses, such as for example Henderson Gammon (winner of, amongst other competitions, the Calgary Grand Prix}, Olympic Wendela (winner of the Grand Prix of Italy at Pavarotti`s}, Baiderdash, Lavender Blue (winner of the 6-yr-old competition}, Olympic Ambush, Condor, Werner BJ and Vashkar. In addition, his approved son Olympic Cocktail stepped into the limelight with Anky van Grunsven, taking away a second in the Kur on Music at the 1993 Aachen CHIC, amongst other feats. Besides Cocktail, Purioso`s sons Bentley, Cantor, Faido (Champion Showjumper of the National Stallion Competition for 4yr-olds} and Prince Paradiso have been approved. Latter two stallions have had equally impressive sport careers, and it is no surprise, therefore, that Purioso, awarded the predicate `keur`, holds a high place in both the dressage and jumping index. No less than five of the progeny of this fertile stallion (90% of his mares in foal} were nominated for the Barcelona Olympics.

Nimmerdor
The ’Preferent’ stallion Nimmerdor was ridden at international level by Albert Voorn, with whom he jumped in various World Cups and international competitions at Berlin Paris Gothenburg Dortmund and London. Nimmerdor holds the top position in the Dutch jumping index and breeds with the highest degree of reliability. His reputation is still growing. He is responsible for Up To Date, Zadok, Ahorn, San Patrigano, Avenir. Canadian Colours and over 40 other Grand Prix horses. He has sired more than 30 graded stallions. He has excellent grandsons in Emilion, Holland, Catherston Zebedee and Catherston Zulu. A top show jumper who was selected for the Los Angeles Olympics his sire was a major influence on Dutch Breeding and his dam is by the Thoroughbred Koridon.

Nimmerdor represents one of the most influential `founding` sires of the Dutch Warmblood - Farn. Farn was born in Holstein and descends from the Achill or `F` line that began in 1877. Next to the Ethelbert line, it is the oldest Holsteiner stallion line. Farn himself left only a few offspring in Holstein, and his description in the official Holstein stallion book is less than glowing: `Somewhat inharmonious stallion with a lovely head carriage. Built slightly `down hill`, good shoulder, flat back, heavily padded loin. Heavy bone, weak pasterns. Good mover.`

At his performance test in 1975, Nimmerdor starred in the jumping, and went on to an International career with Albert Voorn, competing in Berlin, Paris, Goteborg, Dortmund and London. He was selected for the Los Angeles Olympics, but his owner, Weipke van der Lageweg decided he should stay home and concentrate on his breeding activities.

As a sire, Nimmerdor has been equally successful, even before he retired from the competition arena, his progeny were starting to make their way through the ranks. Nimmerdor is currently ranked 29th on the World Breeding Federation ranking for the period 1992/2001 on the basis of a staggering 42{!} international level jumpers. These include such stars as Himmerdor with Paul Freimüller, Broere Goldenbridge and Wout-Jan Van der Schans, Heartbreak and Peter Geerink and Canadian Colours and Jill Henselwood. Nimmerdor has more than 40 approved stallion sons around the world and is proving himself to be the sire of sires: his son, Ahorn after a successful International jumping career, went on to sire current jumping sensation AK High Valley Z, the recent winner of the TNT Sires of the Century competition for the second year running. At the moment, 25% of the top 150 Dutch jumping horses are out of Nimmerdor mares - and at the age of 30, the grand old man of Dutch breeding is still healthy hale.

Mr Blue
Mister Blue is one of the few stallions in the world to have won at the highest international level with 3 different riders. By the age of 8 he was placed in 17 international classes including 2nd in the GP of Wolfsburg, Geesteren, Amsterdam and Maastricht as well as double clear round in the Cup of the Nations in Rotterdam. At 9 years old, he jumps clear in the cup of the nations of Aachen, he is 1st in the GP CSI of Hachenburg, vice champion of Holland, he takes part in the European championship of Mannheim where he finishes 6th of the individual ranking, he wins the master of Stuttgart and is second of the GP CSI W of Aarhus.

In 1997 Mister Blue 17th of the WBFSH world ranking and 3rd stallion in sport.

At 10 years old he came 8th in the World Cup as well as many wins including the GP CSI W of Paris Bercy. He moves during the season to Henri and Kathie Prudent, which is a great success. With his new rider Elise Haasen Mister Blue is placed in the GP of Palermo and winning in Oslo in 1999 etc. In 2000 he wins the GP of Miami and is placed in many CSI classes. He is selected as the reserve for the American team at the Sydney Olympic Games.

Last season, at the age of 15, he continued to jump with success including 8th in the Grand Prix in San Patrignano.

Mister Blue started breeding in Holland. He’s been approved Selle Français and is very appreciated by the breeders in Holland, France, Germany and Belgium! Calm and reactive with real strength points and blood, he is also energetic and extraordinarily respectful.

In 1997 he was the sire of 9 3 years olds of which Lady Blue is crowned one of best of her generation at the Dutch Championship. His first products in France are now 5 years old. L’OR NOIR was specially noticed during FENCES sales in 2002 and one of his first products in Holland makes the sales record in Rambouillet in 2001. Among them, various were finalist in Fontainebleau. Last year around 45 foals were born of which PICCO BELLO, impressive chestnut-roan male sold 28000€ at the Elite FENCES sales. More than a hundred foals are expected!

Couperus stood at stud for only one year before being exported to Indonesia! Consequently he has very few progeny in Europe – we in fact believe him to have had only 24 foal in total! He is a direct descendant of the infamous thoroughbred Lucky Boy who is found in so many International horses for dressage, eventing and show jumping. Hi is, without a doubt one of the foundation sires of the modern sport horse. Couperus has the same maternal line as Romulus who provided several winners in CSIO.

Mister Blue’s dam, Acarla, won in class Z in Holland {Class A in France}. She is the full sister of Zucarlos, World Cup finalist and also finalist of the World Games in Stockholm and the Olympic Games of Barcelona with Jay Hayes. She is the 1/2 sister (same dam} as Just an Illusion, winner in CSI who offered to his rider Jenny Zoer the title of Junior Champion of Holland. It is also the maternal line of the stallions Nabuur, Jupilot and Transvaal often found in Dutch sport horse breeding.
